1) GheoFabulousDuk v2. He recently cut his hair, and I had to update my TTGL rendition of him as a result. Notice that he’s got Simon’s glasses this time (fanart:Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann & Real Life).

2) Random dude walking with a bag on his shoulder (misc).

3) I keep telling myself, “Flak! You’ve got to learn how to draw girls!” and I keep failing to pursue that goal long enough to accomplish it. This is the first attempt in my latest batch. It’s got a bunch of problems but it’s not horrendous. Except for the lower face. Couldn’t get it right, so I killed it with a beard (misc).

4) Continuing the theme from #3, it’s an attempt at drawing a girl. I did this one in many stages, getting advice from CJ along the way. It still looks like trash but it’s a lot better than it was in its first incarnation. Thanks, CJ! (misc)

5) Gem Hunter with his runeblade the Shark (HC).

6) Tomora Ynthon making a gun with his right hand. Anachronistic and random, but eh, I felt like it (TOH)!

7) Gem Hunter, feeling ambivalent about something (HC).

Welcome back to Tundra of Heroes. Here’s another chapter in the stories of Intra Noi and Tomora Ynthon. “Hey Flak,” you might ask, “the story’s developing so slowly!” Well, it took four chapters for Jeuni’s story to really get going, and here we’re progressing at half speed (since each chapter is split between two stories). Yeah, things are kind of slow. But there’s still a lot going on ;)

I’d love to get more feedback (pickings were slim last chapter, unfortunately). It’d really help me with this.

Anyway, that’s all I’ve got to say for now. Future chapters may have more accompanying notes. Once things get going.

Brief descriptions, from top left to bottom right:

First is Tomora Ynthon of Tundra of Heroes, probably from his pre-military days, judging by the fact that he doesn’t look totally evil (TOH). Second is an attempt at a rendition of Kigamoosh—I promised him I’d produce a design for his bestial persona and then give him an avatar when all was done (TAAOF/NS). This probably is not a final design, but it’s so much better than design #1 that I’m willing to display it here. Third is total crap I threw together in two minutes, drawing Naruto and Luffy from memory in an attempt to show someone how dumb they look (fanart:Naruto & One Piece). Fourth is Tomora Ynthon once again, this time with the military, as we can see from his lack of top hat, his standard-issue Byhr cloak, and his short sword as his side (TOH). Fifth is a totally random sketch of some rabbit-esque creature, probably inspired at least in part by the rabite-ridden game my bro J has been playing of late (misc). Sixth is Tomora Ynthon again, this time looking pretty nonthreatening, and maybe like he’s proposing something—maybe he’s at the Byhrate council, abusing his new Commander status (TOH). Seventh we’ve got another random piece, though this time one with a bit more thought put into it than the rabbit; it appears to be some kind of ninja-ish dude running (misc). And finally, for the eighth piece, we’ve got Tomora Ynthon again, before his time in the Byhrate military, spoilers? (TOH).

Later!

If you have not read any Tundra of Heroes before, check this post out anyway. This new writing stands on its own, though it benefits from a reading of previous material. Be sure to read the release notes before the chapter, even if you’re familiar with Tundra of Heroes! Happy Halloween!

To those who’re unfamiliar with Tundra of Heroes: welcome. You might be Night Switch readers—this is very different from Night Switch. It’s “serious business.” Installments will be longer and less frequent. There will be fewer if any anime references and internet culture jokes. Though this is less “fun” than Night Switch, I like to think it’s still entertainment, so I would encourage you to read it. As already mentioned, this new content (a new chapter of Tundra of Heroes) benefits from a reading of previous material (the prologue, chapters one through ten, and what was formerly the “epilogue”). However, it doesn’t depend on it. There are references to things mentioned previously, but they are not integral.

If you haven’t read Tundra of Heroes before, you should! But if you don’t have time to read eleven chapters now, just go with this for now.

To those who are familiar with ToH: welcome back. Those of you who voiced opinions about the story said stuff along the lines of “I hope there’s more.” Well, now you get your more, after nine and a half months or so. I’m treating the epilogue as a “Chapter 11″ for numbering purposes. This Chapter 12, though, is not a continuation of Jeuni’s story—it’s the beginning of two other stories set in the same world, which ultimately will tie in with Jeuni’s story. Here’s the confusing part: they both take place before Jeuni’s story, and they take place at different times. Have fun choking on the back-and-forth and confusion ;)

To everyone reading this post: thank you for being here. I’m trying something I have not tried before (Night Switch switches perspectives, but so far all action has been chronologically linear). Before you read this, I will give you a little cheat-sheet:

1. chapters 1-10 will henceforth be referred to as “Jeuni’s story”
2. the first half of this chapter takes place approximately 70 years before Jeuni’s story
3. the second half of this chapter takes place just about 27 years before Jeuni’s story

That’s all I’m offering for now; the setting and state of the world in the two different stories should be revealed over time as you read more. Also, I intend to get my act together and offer supplementary material alongside the text—maps, art, etc. There won’t be anything at first, but there will be more than just text. I want to leverage more media in order to present the connections between the three different stories.

Enjoy, and please comment—I’m going to need a lot of feedback as I get back into writing this more “serious” stuff.

Aaaand Tundra of Heroes chapters 1-10, prologue, and epilogue just got the treatment described in the above-linked post. There are twelve posts in the Tundra of Heroes category, and they each have release notes and text. Release notes and text share comments, navigation between posts is automatically generated, etc. Hopefully the Chapter Select menu is working for everyone; I know the one for Night Switch crapped out at one point.

Recently, I’ve been feeling pressure to release Night Switch on schedule. While pressure is kind of good for my motivation sometimes, at the moment it’s not helpful. Night Switch had a number of assumptions associated with it when I began it: I would have fun with it, I wouldn’t spend much time on it, I wouldn’t feel pressured because of it, and I wouldn’t let it get in the way of my more serious writing.

I’m still having fun with it, but those three other lamps are all flashing red.

I have something more serious that I want to reveal on Friday. I’ve been feeling a lot of pressure to get Night Switch out. I’ve been spending too much time on it. I know that I only just recently changed the release schedule, but I have to take this a step further. Night Switch is officially on hiatus. I don’t know how long this will last. Hopefully no more than a month. Being able to channel some silliness into Night Switch is often helpful.

But it’s become too much of a time and energy sink, and I need a break.

In the meantime, if anyone wants to step in and create guest content, you are more than welcome to do so (though you are always welcome to do so!). IcyStorm, you want to practice your writing, right? ;)

Also, I intend to set up my bonus points “shop” within the next week or so. Look forward to that.

Behold! I do still draw stuff! Now let’s see how long it takes to put up a new piece.
Not much to say about this piece. I went heavy on lighting as always, cause basically it’s the only thing camouflaging the dodgy line art. Skills haven’t particularly improved in any one way, and six months of absence haven’t done it much good either. Still, as far as my abilities go, I’m definitely happy with this one. Enjoy!
